The City of Malmö’s Executive Committee has decided to establish a business and innovation hub with focus on Japan during 2024. The investment takes place in collaboration with the startup house Minc and aims to attract more Japanese business establishments and investments to Malmö, support companies in Malmö that want to enter the Japanese market and at the same time contribute to jointly developing new innovations and solutions to challenges that both regions face, not least in the area of sustainability.
“Networking and relationships with other cities to benefit from each other’s strengths, and the opportunity to learn from each other is particularly important”, said Malmö’s mayor Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh as the decision was announced. The city also decided to become member of Global city Network for Sustainability (G-Nets), launched by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
